The Idea
![]() The chair is from West Coast Kids www.westcoastkids.ca/Furniture/Gliders-Rocking-Chairs/Dutailier---Classico-Upholstered-Glider and I love it, you can rock while reclined. A recliner is great as it allows you to catch a few minutes of sleep during the late night feedings. The light, which reminds us of the Deathstar (we are Star Wars fans), is from Ikea www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/30311492/#/30311492; it was an overhead light but my husband converted it to be a hanging lamp and added a dimmer switch for me. The light also opens and baby loves looking at it and the shadows it casts. The crib is from Toys R US www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=42627396 . Wood Wall![]() The wood wall was an idea I saw on Pintrest. It was fairly easy to do and not that expensive. I wanted a rustic look, so we picked up pine boards and stained them grey. Then we attached false studs, running vertically, to the wall to nail the boards into so we wouldn't ruin the wall. Last, we cut the horizontal boards into three different lengths and repeated a pattern down the wall. Colours and Bedding![]() I knew I wanted to use navy, baby blue and grey as the colours. My first step was to decide on the material that would be used for the bedding, drapes, cushions, etc. My Mother-in-law is an amazing quilt maker and had volunteered to make all bedding items for the room. We visited numerous fabric stores and were not having any luck, all of the fabric was too "kiddish/cartoony" for me. Finally we went to a discount fabric store www.marshallfabrics.com where my Mother-in-law suggested we look at mens dress shirt fabric and there I found the perfect material. When I showed my husband he said he liked it but that a kids room should be more colourful. His mom suggested we add in orange and it was a perfect match. ![]() I had googled and pinterested quilt designs and had found a number of patterns I liked and she was able to create the quilt from that. In addition, she made the crib skirt and topper, crib sheets, drapes, nursing pillow cover, change pad cover, chair pillow and blanket, beagle security stuffy and, best of all, she made a matching sleep sac. I really loved the personal touches she added: the embroidered message to my son, the beagle quilting on the quilt, and the quilted "Es" for his name on the throw blanket. She made extra sheets and covers, which have been very needed. Book WallCollage Wall![]() This was another idea from Pintrest. The paw print is from my beagle and another way we incorporated him. A lot of the items are from HomeSense. The cabinet was originally a rustic brown and we sanded it down and painted it white. The mirror hook and the curtain tiebacks are these adorable dog tail hooks we found at Ikea. The dresser is also Ikea, the Hemnes line www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/00318598/; this is the white stain version. The "E" was originally yellow and we spray painted it orange, let it dry and then painted it navy and let it dry. We then rubbed away some of the navy with sandpaper so the orange would show through. I also used some of the left over fabric from his quilt in one of the frames. Custom Esty Items![]() I was able to custom order some great items on Esty. The lamp with beagle base is from Perrelle Designs www.etsy.com/people/letterlamp?. The fox and beagle mobile is from lollipopmoon www.etsy.com/ca/shop/lollipopmoon. ClosestMy husband designed and built the closet organizer. As you can see it provides tons of storage. I have clothes in tubs for up to 2 years. The tubs are from Superstore, a great deal. The tubs are piled two high on the top shelf. The wood stained panel drawers is a nice tie in to the Wall. Other items![]() Lastly some of the other items in the room include the fox toy sac from BuyBuyBaby www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/3-sprouts-fox-storage-bin/1040503684?Keyword=fox . The side table is from Ikea and is the Hemnes line as well www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/70121230/. The orange clock is from Amazon www.amazon.ca/Classical-Movement-Ticking-Bedside-Nightlight/dp/B01C6Y7A32/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1473975252&sr=8-14&keywords=orange+clock. The fox and beagle stuffed animals were a gift and purchased from Chapters. My Little FoxOne day I am sure my little fox will have his own hound best friend.
